Our Psychological Services
What are psychological services?
Services provided may take many forms, depending on the nature of the problem. Assessment may consist of interviews, family and professional consultation, observations, and formal psychological testing. Interventions may consist of: consultation with the family, pediatrician, medical staff, or school; individual, group, or family therapy; parent training/parent counseling, and behavior management.
1
Psychological Testing
If psychological testing is recommended, this can be completed in 3-5 sessions. Testing may include aptitude, achievement, personality, clinical or educational. It can provide a road map of your child’s strengths and weaknesses. The information obtained can help determine treatment options and diagnostic clarification.
2
Traditional Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy can be hard work. It requires a willingness on your part to be open and honest with your thoughts, feelings and actions. It also requires a commitment to attending the therapy sessions as scheduled.
Psychotherapy focuses on understanding and changing emotional and behavioral patterns that cause difficulty for the individual, couple or family.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Working with horses is a powerful and effective therapeutic approach that has an incredible impact on individuals. Much of the equine therapy is facilitated by non-verbal communication skills. Horses, like many other animals, communicate non-verbally. They use body language and often mirror the emotions and behaviors of the participants that surround them.
What is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy?
Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) is the practice of using horses for emotional growth. Participants in therapy use feelings, behaviors, and patterns to better understand the horse and themselves. The field of using horses for therapy is new and growing rapidly. It has been proven to be very effective in building confidence, improving communication and giving personal insights to participants involved with equine assisted therapy.
